There’s a great interview series for authors going on at Andrea Hurst and Associates.
Authornomics
Here’s an overview:
With a publishing industry that is ever in flux, it can be hard for an aspiring author to figure out what information is relevant and what she needs to do to be successful. Recognizing this, literary agent Andrea Hurst and writer and blogger Katie Flanagan present a series of weekly interviews with publishing industry specialists. The Authornomics Series features literary agents, editors, authors, marketing experts and more talking about their opinions on the publishing industry, writing, and what a writer needs to know.
Today Andrea Hurst interviews Renda Dodge, Founder of Pink Fish Press.
At Pink Fish Press, at least two people read the first three chapters of submitted manuscripts because, according to Renda, selling one’s work isn’t always an author’s inherent quality. She says she likes to give every author’s writing a chance.
Andrea’s site and The Pink Fish Press are both worth a visit.
As always, thanks for stopping by,

Very interesting, Margaret. I have been mourning, in my heart and sometimes aloud, the whole printing/publishing industry. When I was in the printing business, we called self-publishing "vanity press" and even though I know some very good people are self-publishing, I can't get past the old way of looking at it. This might be very helpful, indeed.

Hi Kaye. So far most of the self-published e-books I've downloaded onto my Kindle have been a disappointment. It makes me hesitant to keep trying. I figure in the long run, the winners will still stand out through word-of-mouth. There are many talented writers out there, but the ones who have the patience to wait until their work is the best it can be before publishing are rare. And they will be the ones who stand out.
