In an effort to step out of my comfort zone and do something good in the process, I’ve decided to finally–yes FINALLY–participate in: Brenda Novak’s Annual Auction for the Cure of Diabetes.
Each year I tell myself that this will be the year I do my first online auction bid. After all, it’s a good cause. And Brenda is a darn nice person. I know, because I met her during the days I belonged to the Sacramento Valley Rose chapter of Romance Writers. I admired her kindness and generosity back then, and I still do now.
There are also some fantastic items up for bid. Books, jewelry, gift baskets, home decor, tickets for Celine Dion, author critiques, agent evaluations, one-on-one author mentoring. You name it, there’s something for everyone.
I’ve been reading A Course in Miracles, Foundation for Inner Peace, which defines miracles in a whole new way than I was accustomed to.
- “Miracles are a kind of exchange.”
- “The real miracle is the love that inspires them.”
- “Miracles are healing because they supply a lack; they are performed by those who temporarily have more for those who temporarily have less.”
- Miracles “bring more love both to the giver and the receiver.”
- Miracles simultaneously increase the strength of the giver and supply strength to the receiver.”
- “A major contribution of miracles in the strength in releasing you from your false sense of isolation, deprivation, and lack.”
That makes Brenda Novak a Miracle Worker.
It also means that you and I can be MIRACLE WORKERS.
By supplying a lack, by spreading our love, by giving strength to an organization that is trying to find a cure of diabetes.
I’m going to start by checking out all the items for bid: Browse by Category.
There’s even something new this year for people in the Sacramento area, which I’d like to attend:
NEW THIS YEAR! Together with my fabulous community partners, Arden Hills Resort Club & Spa and Mercedes-Benz Rocklin, I’m sponsoring my first local “tie-in” event here in the Sacramento area. THE PERFECT BRUNCH will feature KCRA’s Deirdre Fitzpatrick (news anchor) and KFBK’s Ed Crane (news anchor), a bottomless mimosas brunch from Bistro 33 Rocklin, a $3500 ruby/diamond ring from Michael Greene & Co. that will be raffled off (hidden in one of three cakes provided by Village Cake–very exciting and fun), a swag bag for each attendee from Arden Fair Mall (including an autographed Brenda Novak novel), free chair massages from Arden Hills and fabulous entertainment. Don’t miss this spectacular event. Tickets are only $40. Event to take place on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Mercedes-Benz Rocklin.
As I was saying, each year I chickened out. Bid online? That meant I’ll had to learn something new.
Well, in July of 2010, I finally started a blog, and in the process, I learned a bit about the workings of the Internet. So the fear of taking another step out of my comfort zone has lessened a bit.
It’s time to perform some miracles.
Thanks for stopping by,

Brenda Novak looks great! And her continual efforts for a cure for diabetes is wonderful.
Approximately 15 years ago, I won first place in a 'finish the story' contest on Channel 31, in a promotion for Brenda's latest book at that time. What fun!
I've read several of Brenda's books and considerr her an excelelnt author. About 2 years ago, I decided to attend her book signing in Sacramento, because I wanted to meet her in person, but unfortunately, I got lost and didn't make it to the signing. Maybe next time. bernadine

Hi Bernadine. I'm impressed that you won first place in a "finish the story" contest on Channel 31. What a thrill that must have been. Brenda is a wonderful person. I hope you get a chance to meet her some day. I'm attending The Perfect Brunch on May 14th, so will probably see her then. I will let you know how it went.
